Pixie Lott joined JLS and other celebs to feature in a short film focussed on world hunger.

Stars including The Saturdays, N-Dubz and Skins actress Kaya Scodelario teamed up with Pixie and JLS to endorse a campaign urging school children to donate an extra 10p with their school dinners for charity.

Cash raised will go towards the Really Good School Dinner campaign – a joint project masterminded by the School Food Trust and the U.N’s World Food Programme.

The campaign, which goes live from January 25 to 29, aims to help tackle world hunger by inviting children across the country to buy one school dinner and give one free.

For every school lunch bought during the campaign week, children will be asked to donate just 10 pence extra.

Every 10p donated goes to the WFP’s School Meals Programme and is enough to pay for a whole meal for a child in a developing country who would otherwise go hungry.

At the same time the campaign encourages children in this country to enjoy school lunches, which are now governed by nutritional standards, guaranteeing pupils a healthy meal.

Urging schools across the country to lend their support, JB from JLS said: “Don’t forget your 10p. Help us make a difference and join The Really Good School Dinner.”

According to money-saving website mysupermarket.com , the average cost of a family Christmas dinner in the UK is £81.50.

This is enough to feed 815 children in the developing world, proving just how far donating only 10 pence will go in the fight to help hungry children.

Urging schools across the country to lend their support, Kaya from Skins said: “Help the Really Good School Dinner collect as many 10p coins as possible for the World Food Programme.”

Pixie has recently become a patron of CRY, a charity which offers support and awareness of cardiac risk in the young. Speaking about the charity, Pixie has said, "I've become a patron of CRY as it affects so many young people and it's crazy that a seemingly fit and young person can just drop down dead. I feel it's important to raise awareness and will be using my new role to spread the word." To find out more, or donate to CRY, then visit their website for more information and guidance.
