Pixie Lott has offered girl guides words of wisdom as part of International Women’s Day.
Angela Rippon, The Apprentice runner-up Saira Khan and author Joanne Harris also dished out advice as new research found that gender stereotyped careers remained popular amongst girls.
Giving her advice to girls, triple Brit Award nominee Pixie Lott said: “My tips to success are: passion, determination, a hard work ethic, always stay positive and ‘fail to prepare, prepare to fail’.”
Newsreader Angela said it was important to “acknowledge your weaknesses and be determined to make them your strengths”.
She added: “Believe in yourself and always enjoy what you do. Remember one thing: when life goes pear shaped, don’t give up. Instead pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again.”
Saira told girls to adhere to the “P.U.S.H.” principles – be “Proactive, Understand yourself and others, Sell yourself and Have high standards”.

The pop star, 19, recreated the iconic poses of four former blonde bombshells.
And she was the image of a sexy young Bardot, now 75, who shot to fame in classic 50s film And God Created Woman.
Essex girl Pixie also posed in a swimsuit as 70s Charlie’s Angels star Farrah Fawcett, in a 60s outfit as model Twiggy and a ball gown as 40s actress Veronica Lake.
UK hairdresser of the year Akin Konizi helped the Boys and Girls singer look a Lott like them.
Pixie Lott has turned her nose up at Ashley Cole’s new single status, hinted she may just be bigger than Lady Gaga and turned down celibacy.
The pop princess, who shot to fame last year, is not shying away from her new fame status and is already announcing her larger-than-life plans.
Speaking exclusively to metro.co.uk, Pixie completely snubbed fellow pop diva Cheryl Cole’s former husband Ashley Cole by saying – with a disgusted voice: ‘Ashley Cole is single? No, I am definitely not interested in him in the slightest.’
The Brit beauty is currently trying to crack America with her debut album Turn It Up and like many other stars, she loves life Stateside.

Twilight fan Pixie Lott says Robert Pattinson plays her ideal man in the vampire movies.
Twilight devotee Pixie Lott told New! online exclusively that her ideal man would be Edward Cullen played by everyone’s favourite man of the moment Robert Pattinson.
She told New! online: “I love the character Robert Pattinson plays in the Twilight movies. Edward Cullen is the perfect boy.”
The gorgeous singer said she loves Twilight so much she has watched the film over and over.
She said: “I watched Twilight about seven times and went to the cinema straight away to see New Moon.”
And to make time for that we’re sure Pixie must be a true Twi-hard.
The 19-year-old told us she been mad busy performing live, promoting her fourth single and writing lots of new material (not to mention looking pretty at the all the best events in town, including the Brits and London Fashion week). (more…)

The line-up for V Festival 2010 has been announced – and Kings Of Leon and Kasabian are set to headline. The festival, which takes place in Chelmsford and Staffordshire across the weekend of August 21 and 22, will also see sets from Stereophonics, The Prodigy, Paul Weller, The Kooks, Faithless, Paolo Nutini and Florence And The Machine.
Also playing will be Pet Shop Boys, Cheryl Cole, Madness, Editors, White Lies, Mika, Groove Armada, The Courteeners, The Charlatans, Temper Trap, Amy McDonald, Goldfrapp, Shed Seven, Newton Faulkner, La Roux, Skunk Anansie, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Kate Nash, Paloma Faith, Plan B, Sugababes and Pixie Lott.
“We can’t wait,” say Kasabian in a statement. “We feel it’s the right time for us to headline a festival. We’ve been playing so many festivals for so long, years and years. I think the moment is right. It’s just a wonderful thing to be doing. Our fans are going to love the show. They’ll really enjoy it.”
It’s not the kind of accessory you’d normally expect a young starlet to be holding on a night out.
But Pixie Lott arrived at Runway nightclub in London last night brandishing a mask made out of a photograph of a male friend’s face.
The singer and her female friend could scarcely contain their glee at the joke as they strolled into the venue arm in arm.
The mask, which bears a photograph of a man who appears to squinting into the sun and curling his lip slightly, was perhaps a birthday surprise for the man behind the mask.
Despite the mask, Pixie, 21, was the epitomy of glamour as she was ushered into the club with a group of friends.
Wearing a pearl-coloured lace minidress under a black blazer with a white scarf, the pop singer was also carrying a bunch of white flowers that bore more than a passing resemblance to a bridal bouquet. (more…)
The Supertrash spring/summer 2010 collection, modelled by girl of the moment Pixie Lott, launches at My-Wardrobe.com this week – and the site is anticipating a huge response to the new label.

So while celebrating her three Brit nominations with me in the early hours of Wednesday, she decided to set the record straight on her love life.
Gulping down a dodgy bagel with yours truly, the Essex teen denied she is seeing Hollywood star and singer Joe Jonas.
Despite rumours swirling, she assured me: “We’re only working together. He’s a great guy but nothing’s happening at the moment. I’m still very much single.
“Don’t worry, I’ll let you vet my next boyfriend Dan.”
I’ll be happy to help. In just a year she’s gone from Essex lass to No.1 star.
In the wake of his brother’s wedding (and subsequent consummation, we’re guessing), clean-cut young Joe Jonas has set his sights on a woman of his very own.
And, as unlikely as it sounds, that woman is Brit singing star Pixie Lott.
According to The Sun, the pair have been on a series of dates together (probably involving a lot of giggling but no actual physical contact).
The Jonas brothers are, of course, famous for wearing their purity rings, but Joe is reportedly pursing Pixie with a good deal of vigour.
A friend told The Sun: “Joe has been relentless in his pursuit of Pixie. They have known each other a while. But she was visiting LA last week and he made sure he saw her every day.
“There were five nights on the trot where they ended up hanging out and going out together.”
It could be a good move for Pixie, particularly since she is currently trying to crack America. (more…)

We hooked up with the 19-year-old popster in her swish LA hotel suite where she revealed how her personal email site has been inundated with a string of dodgy pictures of men’s bits.
And to make matters even worse, it’s all down to those pervy McFly boys.
“It was disgusting. Dougie from McFly started it off by asking his fans to send me dirty snaps,” she told us.
“They totally got me. I clicked open these pictures on my Twitter account and it was all a bit weird. Some people were really extreme and I just thought, ‘OK I’m not going to look any more.’ I’ve seriously got to get McFly back.”
But before Pixie plots her revenge, she has some other business to attend to. Not only has she been nominated for three Brits – Best Single, Best Female and Best Breakthrough – but she’s also trying to crack America. (more…)
Pixie Lott has been confirmed as Rihanna’s ’special guest’ at her forthcoming Metro Radio Arena show, in Newcastle.
The show will take place on 17th May, and it’s not yet been revealed whether this means she’s supporting on the whole tour.
Hopefully this’ll help tone down all the “Pixie totes ripped off RiRi” nonsense that’s been going around the internets. Though this is a pretty good mashup.

Pixie Lott thought she had missed out on any BRIT award nominations.
The ‘Mama Do’ singer performed at the announcement of this year’s nominations last month, and was initially left disappointed when she thought she had missed out on all the categories.
She explained: “Somebody asked me on the red carpet and I said, ‘oh, are the nominations out?’ and I hadn’t heard anything, so I thought ‘that’s that then’.
“Then later I was in my dressing room and I heard my name read out. Three! It was amazing.”
Pixie, 19, is nominated in the British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act categories, and is also up in the British Single section, for her debut ‘Mama Do’.
Pixie said she was glad she was getting recognised after a fantastic year in the music industry in 2009, during which she scored two number one singles with her debut and follow up single ‘Girls and Boys’ (more…)
Pixie Lott must have her pick of designer dresses to wear to the Brits – but has decided on the DIY approach to Tuesday’s bash.
Pixie said: “I’m going to try to design a little outfit and see how it turns out. If it turns out bad then I will just pick a dress from a designer or something but I’m really going to try to design my own.
“It is a risk but I’ve always wanted to do it,” she says.
Well she’s going to be a very busy girl in the run-up to the do at London’s Earls Court.
I bet she got the fashion bug after working with High Street label Lipsy and top designer Karl Lagerfeld.
But with only a week to go until the big day, she had better get cracking.

‘There’s someone pretending to be me on Facebook, calling themselves Trixie Totts,’ Pixie told Now before her Q gig at the Hard Rock Café this week.
‘They’ve been messaging and chatting to loads of celebrities who think it’s me, and I get asked all the time if I’m the Trixie Totts on Facebook. I don’t know what to do.’
Luckily, her Facebook imposter hasn’t put the 19-year-old off social networking for good.
‘I know Miley Cyrus came off Twitter because of all the horrible comments,’ says Pixie, ‘but I wouldn’t take a break from Twitter and Facebook like Lily Allen did.
‘You don’t have to log on all the time.’
What would Pixie’s mama do…uh-oh, uh-oh? We wouldn’t like to be Trixie Totts if she got hold of her…

Pixie Lott has revealed that she is eager to embark on her first headline tour.
The ‘Cry Me Out’ singer, who performed for the Q The Music Club at the Hard Rock Cafe in London, admitted that she wants to play more full sets.
“I’m hoping I will go on tour soon as I want to do as many shows as possible but I don’t know how many we can fit in the schedule,” she told the Daily Star.
“The night before I performed at Hard Rock, I went to bed thinking that every day I have to do promotional work. Then I realised that the next day all I had to do was get up on stage and sing and do what I love.”
She added: “I was so excited about performing a full set.”
Lott recently announced that she is working on new material for a US release of her debut album Turn It Up.
At just 19 years old, it wasn’t that long ago when Pixie Lott was a student herself.
But today, pupils at secondary school in her hometown of Brentwood, Essex, got a treat when the Mama Do singer hosted a music masterclass.
Over 1,200 students at the Brentwood County High School gathered in the assembly hall to enjoy a free concert by the star.
Lott hosted the masterclass as part of the Government campaign Tune In – Year Of Music, which encourages children to take part in more music-related activities.
As well as singing some of her own songs, she also taught them basic guitar methods, rehearsal techniques and gave them song writing tips.
Lucky student Matthew Slopecki, 12, was given the chance to accompany Lott on his guitar as she performed some cover versions.
She said: ‘Music has been such a big part of my life. I wanted to talk about it and help inspire people hopefully.
‘I’ve been into music from such a young age and I really think it helped me socially and really focus on things.’
But Lott said she was well aware growing up she may not find success in the music business and stressed the importance of paying attention to other subjects. (more…)
Pixie Lott has been inspired by fellow BRITs nominee Lady GaGa to have her skin inked in tribute to her fans.
Earlier this week GaGa, 23, got a permanent reminder of her followers by having her nickname for them, Little Monsters, tattooed on her wrist.
Now the Cry Me Out songstress wants to follow suit. Pixie, 19, told me: “I was thinking of getting a tattoo but I don’t want to get it where you can see it.
“I could get a tattoo for my fans like Lady GaGa did. I don’t have a specific name for my fans like she does but when I go on Twitter I always say: ‘Hey crazy cats.’” Fortunately, the triple BRIT-nominated lass won’t go to the body art extremes of Amy Winehouse, 26, who has a naked woman on her arm.
Pixie continued: “I was thinking of testing it out and getting a tattoo on the bottom of my foot so no-one could see it, but then it would be a bit pointless.
“It would definitely hurt though.”
Pixie is now itching to take herself on tour after performing only her second headline show, for Q The Music Club at London’s Hard Rock Cafe.
Jumping around the stage barefoot, she clearly loved every second and threw in covers of The Strokes’ Last Nite and Isn’t She Lovely? by Stevie Wonder, 59. (more…)
