Pop star Pixie Lott is backing a new campaign that hopes to stamp out bullying.
Charity BeatBullying is hoping to mobilise hundreds of thousands of young people from all around the world to take part in a virtual march for children’s rights.
There are already 135,000 supporters signed up to The Big March 2012, including many celebrities, and you can join them at beatbullying.org/bigmarch
You’ll be invited to create a personal avatar to represent you on the global online march which will culminate in the presentation of a petition demanding the UN enshrine protection against bullying into the rights of a child.
Here Pixie Lott tells Sun readers why every child deserves a life free from bullying.
BULLYING is unacceptable.
It’s important to take a stand against it. It’s a big problem in schools and when kids are growing up it can ruin their lives.
Everyone should have the right to feel safe. Your youth is when you’re meant to have the most fun and be carefree — kids shouldn’t have to put up with such nasty behaviour.
Bullying happens all the time, in loads of different forms. Sometimes it can be extreme and sometimes it can seem relatively harmless but it does happen everywhere. And even if it’s just name-calling, that can be really hurtful. (more…)
The ‘All About Tonight’ singer says she is still looking to break into acting as well as continuing her music career.
Pixie Lott
Pixie Lott has expressed regret about missing out on the opportunity to portray Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe on screen.
The ‘What Do You Take Me For?’ singer says she is hoping to take on some more acting work in the future, following her big screen in Fred: The Movie last year.
“I’m still interested in acting,” Pixie told the Daily Star. “But I want to do something different to what I am so it’s more of a challenge.
“If I had to play anyone it would be Marilyn Monroe, but they just did a movie on her.”
Pixie added: “Damn. She’s an icon.”
Simon Cutis’ new film My Week With Marilyn, starring Michelle Williams in the titular role, is due for release in the UK on 25th November.
Pixie Lott says she has no intention of sexing up her image or style to fit in more with US artists like Rihanna and Britney Spears.
The ‘What Do You Take Me For?’ singer says although she has a lot of respect for what they do she would never use such explicit lyrics in her music.
“I just don’t think I’d feel comfortable doing lyrics like that,” Pixie told The Sun. “But if she’s not writing every lyric and she’s happy to do it. Fair enough.
“Different artists do different things and you have to feel and look comfortable doing it. It totally suits Rihanna.”
“She’s amazing but even if I wanted to do that I just couldn’t,” she explained. “I can’t imagine playing that kind of stuff to my family.”
Pixie said she admires how successful Rihanna and Britney have become but wants to “leave some things to the imagination”.
The ‘All About Tonight’ singer launched her second studio album ‘Young, Foolish, Happy’ in 11th November and ‘Kiss The Stars’ is expected to be the third single released from it.
Pixie Lott says she is not worried about first-week sales of her new album and is more concerned with having longevity as a recording artist.
The 20 year-old singer released her second studio album ‘Young Foolish Happy’ last week and says she is always looking ahead to the future.
“My first album ended up selling a million copies by the end, which is what we want with this album,” Pixie told The Sun.
“It’s not always about first-week sales – it’s about longevity. I don’t want to stop making music.”
The ‘What Do You Take Me For’ singer also says she doesn’t understand why so many artists choose to have songs written for them rather then penning original material themselves.
“I love writing. I’d hate to do an album and have none of the songs on there of my own,” she explained. “When your songs come from a real experience, you just can’t compare singing those against something someone else has written.”
Pixie Lott has been confirmed for the day one line-up of the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball on 3rd December alongside Rihanna, The Wanted, Calvin Harris and Olly Murs.
If Pixie Lott weren’t a pop star, she reckons she’d have found another way to end up on stage.
‘When I was growing up I read Britney Spears’ and Mariah Carey’s biographies,’ she tells us.
‘I just wanted to see how they did it because I was so eager to get into the biz.’
Pixie, 20, was totally in awe when she got to meet Mariah.
‘She had a party at Jalouse nightclub in London and I kind of welled up a bit and had to hold it back,’ she recalls.
‘I shook her hand and said: “I’m a really big fan! It’s so nice to meet you,” and she said [puts on a breathy American accent]: “Oh, nice to meet you, too. I need to go to the bathroom.”
‘So it was a brief encounter.’

Heat jumped at the chance of a rare interview with pop star of the moment, Pixie Lott. She’s just launched her new fashion collection and is busy preparing for her performances at the Q Awards and Michael Forever tribute concert.
What have you been up to?
I’ve been in the studio everyday since January working on the album which we finished it last week. So at the moment I’m just focusing on the single and promoting the album that comes out on 7th November.
What the meaning behind the album name Young, Foolish and Happy?
It’s a song I grew up listening to, from a young age. I grew up listening to a lot of soul music and I think this album sounds more this kind of way. It’s a message that I’ve always really liked and I think it’s important that need to people remember, it’s just motivating and inspirational.
Do you have a favourite song?
I change my mind all the time, but one of my favourites is a ballad called we just go on.
Did you enjoy getting back in the studio?
Yeah, I love being back in the studio. I love making new albums from scratch because the first album, I spent like four years doing it, so this one was fun and we started completely from scratch. By the end it’s weird how it all gets finished because you never know how it’s going to go. I’m excited to start working on the next album as well.
A new album?
We’ve not started it yet. But I’m excited to get going on it. (more…)
Pixie Lott has declared she wants her pop legacy to be as big as pop queen Madonna’s.
The pop starlet, who is currently eyeing another big hit with her new single ‘What Do You Take Me For?’, said she wants to be in the fame game for as long as she can.
“I just want to be in it for the long haul,” she added. “I can’t ever imagine not making music, making albums, writing songs, doing shows. That’s all I really know and that’s all I really do.”
Pixie also opened up about her romance with model Oliver Cheshire and said they were coping well with being a celeb couple.
“I think it’s fine, it doesn’t make any difference being famous,” she told The Metro. “If you have a very busy lifestyle it’s hard but I think if you make time then it works.”
‘What Do You Take Me For?’ is released on 7th November.
The pop star on getting racy in a lads’ mag, loving Mariah and hoping to take after Take That. By Lucy Hunter Johnston
What’s it like working with your idols?
The only time I’ve been starstruck was when I met Mariah [Carey]. I could feel myself welling up and mumbled that I was a massive fan. She said, ‘Oh, that’s so sweet… I need to go to the bathroom.’
Who has been your favourite person to perform with?
I grew up listening to Stevie Wonder, so just to meet him was amazing, but to have him on the album, I was overwhelmed.
Your fan base is predominantly young girls, does it get frustrating trying to maintain a squeaky clean image?
I don’t think I have a squeaky image. I just represent a normal 20-year-old. I’d never do drugs or crazy things like that, but I love going to parties and drinking like all my friends. I don’t try to pretend to be what I’m not. I don’t feel I need to do anything outrageous.
Do you ever worry that people might not take your music seriously?
Because it’s pop and it’s on the radio people might think that I’m just some blonde singer who dances around, but I work really hard. I try not to pay much attention.
You got to number 31 on FHM’s sexiest women list this year…
I don’t know what to think of it. Thank you to everyone who voted, I guess. (more…)

Even though Pixie Lott is very happy with her boyfriend, model Oliver Cheshire, she has no plans to get married because she’s only 20.
The 20-year-old singer has been dating model Oliver Cheshire since last August and while things are going very well between them, Pixie isn’t sure if they’re ready to tie the knot.
She said: We’re happy. It’s all good. He’s really similar to me, we laugh at the same stuff and we like to stay in and also go out and have fun. He’s lovely.”
When asked what she’d do if he proposed, Pixie said: “Oh, the pressure is on! I wouldn’t be able to say until I was in that situation. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. It’s too early for me to think about marriage. I’m only 20!”
Pixie also revealed she and Oliver have no plans to move in with each other in the near future.
When asked by new! magazine if she thinks the couple will set up home, she said: “I don’t know. I see him all the time so it wouldn’t really make any difference.
“He’s not messy. I’m definitely more messy than he is. He’ll just have to deal with it!”
After much deliberation and suggestions from fans as to what to call her upcoming second album, Pixie has announced that the title of her new release will be Young Foolish Happy. In today’s mailer, Pixie explains more about the origins behind the name. What do you all think? Pixie’s album, due out on November 7th, is available to pre-order now!
Hey Everybody,
Hope you’re having a good weekend so far. I’m so excited and couldn’t wait to let you all know that I have FINALLY come up with a title for my new album. Thanks for all your suggestions over the past few weeks, they were all very helpful! After giving it lots of thought I have decided to call the album ‘Young Foolish Happy’.
It was inspired by a lyric from an old soul song that I love by The Tams called “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy” – Young Foolish Happy pretty much sums up the vibe of my album. It’s a feel good party album but with lots of soul. I also think its a great sentiment for all ages to live life by!
The album comes out on 7th November. Can’t wait for you all to hear it! You can pre-order it at HMV, Amazon and Play right now.
Just finished the video shoot for my next single so watch this space for news about that coming soon.
Pixie Lott says she is “excited” to be performing at BBC Radio 1′s Teen Awards next month.
The singer told Newsbeat: “Last year I was just presenting an award so it’s great to be back and actually perform.
“But it’s also exciting to be on the [judging] panel and to read all these inspiring stories so I’m really excited about that part as well.”
The BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards take place at Wembley Arena on October 9.
The 20-year-old also revealed she’s been working on new music with rapper Wretch 32.
“He’s great. We just worked in the studio a couple of weeks ago. I don’t know what’s making the album yet but he’s definitely cool to be in the studio with.
“We got on really well. He seems like a genuinely nice person and he’s real”.
The singer has also been working with John Legend and Stevie Wonder on tracks from her forthcoming second album.
“I’m a massive fan of John Legend. We had a spare couple of hours in New York together so we wrote a song, and then we recorded it really quickly.
“I really really like it, that one will definitely be on the album.”
Lott also clarified comments she made earlier this year about social networking sites.
“I use them, I tweet all the time. I think it’s great that you can instantly involve people and tell people what you’re up to.
“But I do think it’s sad that back in the old days people like Marilyn Munroe and Audrey Hepburn, you wouldn’t see them leaving the house in their pyjamas, you wouldn’t see them having a full English breakfast in the café. It’s changed completely.
“They used to be kind of untouchable and you’d only see them in front of the camera, but now you see them in all states.”
A massive congratulations to Pixie who has scored her third UK #1 single today with All About Tonight! We are all immensely proud of you Pixie; you have the proudest fans in the world! You deserve it! It’s never too late to download ‘All About Tonight’, so keep purchasing your copies if you haven’t done so yet. Once again, well done Pixie!
Pixie Lott’s bid to be the next Cameron Diaz has been put on hold after her Hollywood debut was scrapped.
The chart-topping babe was due to star alongside Bette Midler and Sharon Stone in Sweet Baby Jesus if the film had made it to the big screen.
But Pixie Lott admits she’s relieved it’s been cancelled because her diary is so jam-packed.
Miss Lott told me: “I was offered the role and there were talks about it going ahead so I’m not sure why it went wrong.
“I think it might have been because they couldn’t get funding.
“But even though it would have been really fun, at the moment I just haven’t got time to focus on acting properly.
“When I do acting I’d want to really concentrate on it and get into the character and take it seriously. I’m so busy with music, in some ways it’s better the film’s not happening.”
Pixie is pretty busy these days as she returns with new track All About Tonight.
And she’s even told her LA screen agent to scrap all auditions while she throws her energy into bagging a third No.1. (more…)
