All heads turn as Pixie Lott strolls into the foyer of one of London’s more exclusive boutique hotels.
After two outrageously successful years, the Bromley-born singer is one of this country’s most recognisable faces and she’s now accustomed to the swivelling heads.
A product of the Italia Conti stage school in London, she starred in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in the West End.
In June 2009 her debut single, Mama Do, entered the UK charts at No 1, selling 200,000 copies. Her first album, Turn It Up, sold more than 600,000 in the UK.
Last year she starred in Fred: The Movie and is currently shooting modern Nativity film Sweet Baby Jesus alongside Bette Midler and Robbie Coltrane.
Aged 20, she is dating model Oliver Cheshire and lives in east London.
I like a party but I’d never get into a situation like the one Amy Winehouse found herself in.
If I even came close to that, my mum would take me and lock me up in her house. One of the dangers of a singer living quite dangerously is that their behaviour becomes part of the brand. The rock-star stereotype is someone who takes drugs and is off their face all the time. I don’t think you need to live that way to be a rock star. I’m not going to do anything that will damage my voice because my voice is my career and singing is my passion. I was singing in the cot and I’ll still be singing when they’re nailing down my coffin. I’ve been in the studio with Wretch 32 developing a song I’ve had for a while.
Wretch, right, put down a rap that he’s written and while it’s still soulful, it’s more of a hip-hop track.
Ballads are actually something I’m a sucker for, and I have written one with James Bourne, who used to be in Busted. It’s very emotional.
In New York I wrote a track with John Legend on the piano, which worked out really well.
He was great to work with – the most successful people are the nicest I have found – and he is so talented.
We didn’t have long together but the track happened really easily. Those are the sort of songs which come out the best and most naturally. John is exactly how you’d expect him to be. He’s not arrogant and is someone you can just chill with.
Stevie Wonder played harmonica on a track called Stevie On The Radio for my album. He wants to add live strings to it so it sounds more contemporary.
Hopefully it’ll be a single but usually the singles are never my favourites and I prefer the album tracks.
Leona Lewis and The Saturdays both have great new singles out next week and while I’d like to be No 1, all you can do is your best.
Going dance is a good move for Leona. It’s important for artists to evolve. (more…)
We didn’t have pop princess Pixie Lott down as a closet caner.
But it turns out Pixie Lott has held on to her goody-two-shoes reputation by keeping her drunken antics top secret.
On a recent booze-fuelled jolly the beauty even recruited one of her pals to be a decoy to throw would-be witnesses off the scent.
One of Pixie’s mates told us: “When Pixie goes out for a big bender she gets her friend to wear a blonde wig and she wears a brunette one so that no-one has a clue who she is.
“It always works too.
“She can neck shots at the bar and have a great time without being bothered by fans or paps.”
And the All About Tonight crooner, 20, certainly used her minxy trick to full effect on a recent trip to Greek island Kos.
With her brunette wig in place she managed to rave it up without anyone batting an eyelid.
Her pal revealed: “Pixie was having a whale of a time, trying to outdrink Arg from The Only Way Is Essex as they partied together.
“She’s really friendly with the TOWIE lot because her brother’s rumoured to appear in the third series.
“And one night she even forced a guy to get her name tattooed on his leg.”
Fair play.
Let’s hope next time we see Miss Lott she’s donning that brown wig of hers.
While she may look the picture of style and poise as one of pop’s hottest properties, Pixie Lott tells The Diary it’s a whole different story away from the limelight.
When we caught up with her at Manchester Pride at the weekend we noticed she was nursing a nasty gash on her otherwise perfect pins, showed off to perfection in her teeny pink hotpants.
She giggled: “Oh, I’m so clumsy. I always seem to be falling over and it always seems to be on my knee. There’s this one spot on my knee where I keep falling so it never has time to heal.”
Thankfully, there were no slip-ups when she headed onto the Pride main stage on Saturday night to perform a special acoustic gig of hits like Mama Do and Cry Me Out
as well as some surprise cover versions of Coldplay’s Fix You and Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely.
Explaining her set, Pixie, 20, said: “I haven’t done an acoustic set for a while, so I thought i’d strip it down, and sing a couple of covers too. Performing acoustically is my favourite way because it’s just me and the guitar.”
She certainly enjoyed her first experience of Manchester Pride.
She said: “It’s just really important because it’s an event where everyone feels they can be themselves and celebrate their individuality, everyone is having a good time and having fun.”
Bosses of The Only Way Is Essex have offered the brother of pop star Pixie Lott a contract to star on the reality series.
They are keen to sign up Stephen, 21, who is a pal of the show’s Joey Essex.
He is considering the offer, but Mama Do star Pixie, 20, has put her foot down by saying there was no way she would let the ITV2 cameras into her home, where Stephen is currently staying.
Talking at the Radio 1 Teen Awards launch, Pixie said: “I was brought up in Brentwood so I know quite a few of the guys from The Only Way Is Essex, and of course I’ve been to Sugar Hut.
“In fact my brother Stephen has been asked to go on it.
“He is best mates with Joey Essex’s best mate, if that makes sense. They have been trying to get him on the show for a while.
“Joey is always round our house, they went on holiday together too. And what is lovely is the way he is on TV is exactly how he is in real life. He’s so sweet and funny.
“I don’t know if my brother will do it. He is living with me in my spare room at the moment so I’m not sure if it would be a good move for him. (more…)
Pixie Lott says there is no chance of her making sweet music with her model boyfriend Oliver Cheshire – because he can’t sing.
The chart-topping Essex-born singer and her man are both signed to the prestigious Select modelling agency.
But, while Pixie has been introduced to the fashion world by the new man in her life, she says there is no chance of a record deal for Oliver until he learns how to hold a tune.
She insisted: “Oliver introduced me to Select. I had meetings with a couple of other agencies, but I had met Select a couple of times with Ollie and that is how I came to be with them. Ollie loves music. We listen to the radio all the time but he can’t sing at all. I’ve told him that. So he wants to do acting and he is looking into that.”
Pixie, 20, and Oliver, 22, met at a party during London Fashion Week and have been going strong ever since. And the singer, who shot straight to No.1 with her debut single Mama Do two years ago, admits their schedules mean they are often kept apart.
“I was at an after event party at Bungalow 8 and he was there,” Pixie recalled. “I was out with friends having fun and wasn’t looking for a boyfriend at all. We had a mutual friend and got talking. (more…)
A lot of girls crop their hair after a big boyfriend break-up.
But don’t worry, Pixie Lott’s love life hasn’t hit the skids. Far from it.
In fact, she is riding high with a new look, new album and a sizzling relationship with her model boyfriend.
“I fancied a change of hairstyle so it didn’t get boring for me and to fresh- en things up a bit for the new album,” says the 20-year-old singer.
After launching onto the pop scene with two back-to- back No 1 singles, Mama Do and Boys & Girls, Pixie has notched up a further four Top 20 hits since 2009.
Hot new single All About Tonight is a taster of what’s to come on Pixie’s second album, which features col- laborations with soul aces Stevie Wonder, 61, and John Legend, 32.
“I feel like I’ve matured a lot since the first album,” Pixie tells me during a visit to the Daily Star offices. “It’s moved on a bit more.
“There are still some party tracks in there but the rest of it is more soul- ful, which is what I grew up with.” (more…)
Pixie Lott is looking forward to finishing her summer of live performances at Sainsbury’s Super Saturday.
The Mama Do singer has been added to the line-up of the family-friendly event taking place on Clapham Common on the September 10 in support of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, along with Sugababes, Nicola Roberts and Olly Murs.
Pixie said: “I am so excited to be performing at Sainsbury’s Super Saturday. It will be a great way to round off the summer. I’m looking forward to seeing some of the Paralympics’ sports stars in action as well.”
The newly-revealed acts will join Chipmunk, Taio Cruz and The Saturdays at the event to help mark the countdown to the Paralympic Games, where the crowds will also be able to try out Paralympic sports.
Chipmunk helped launch the event at Sainsbury’s in Pimlico in May, when he revealed he turned down a job on the fish counter at Sainsbury’s when he was 16 because he didn’t like the hat.
Seb Coe, chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, said: “The fact that we are able to mix popular, talented artists alongside Paralympic sport displays and interactive activities is just a fantastic way to engage with new audiences.”
Tickets to the event are on sale at www.ticketmaster.co.uk/supersaturday.
Pop songstress Pixie Lott is preparing to see some familiar faces at Party in the Park 2011.
The 20-year-old is gearing up for her third appearance at the Temple Newsam event in three years.
She joins all star acts like Example, Tinchy Stryder, Olly Murs and JLS on the bill for Sunday’s event, organised by 96.3 Radio Aire and Leeds City Council.
She told the YEP: “All I remember from last year is that the crowd was so crazy and the whole crowd got going to some very good acts.
“I don’t really get nervous – big crowds are my favourite, and it’s definitely one of the biggest ones so it’s always one of the more exciting ones.”
The singer said that she will be playing her new single All About Tonight at the 70,000-capacity event along with some old favourites.
Pixie has reportedly collaborated with Stevie Wonder and John Legend on her new album, which will be released on November 7. (more…)
Pixie Lott is back this Autumn with a brand new Album and her fourth collection for fashion favourite Lipsy.
In addition to her fantastic musical career, Pixie has her own clothing line ‘Pixie Lott for Lipsy’ and a new range will launch all across the UK and Ireland on September 26th through Lipsy retail stores, Lipsy.co.uk as well as through key Lipsy wholesale partners including Asos.com, Bank, Very.co.uk, Selfridges, House of Fraser and Next.co.uk
Add to this, Pixie Lott is back with a brand new track called ‘All About Tonight’, which premiered on UK radio on Monday the 11th of July. The video is live now at http://www.youtube.com/user/PixieLottVEVO#p/a/u/0/swcULf1ATy…. The highly-anticipated single will be played in the build-up to the popstar’s second album, which Lott will be releasing on November 7th.
After releasing her debut album ‘Turn It Up’ in 2009, Pixie continued to reach higher and higher levels of success which led to ‘Turn It Up’ reaching triple platinum status and has been on the charts for a phenomenal 95 weeks. With two #1 singles also under her belt, the 20-year old has the pop scene firmly grasped and her fans can only wait for her second album to drop this autumn.
Pixie starred as a guest judge on last year’s X Factor alongside Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh. Last December, Pixie performed her first headline tour and it sold out within hours. Pixie is also one of the most talked about artists on the social networks, with over 1million friends on Facebook and 500,000 twitter followers. There’s not much Pixie hasn’t done in terms of achievements and we expect that her fourth collection with Lipsy will be the best one yet.
Commenting on the new collection Pixie said: “I love designing my own clothing line with Lipsy. I still need to pinch myself when I think about this being my fourth clothing range and I’m still only 20. The new range is the best one yet.”
Jeremy Stakol, CEO of Lipsy, said: “Everyone at Lipsy adores Pixie. She is a modern day fashion icon and we are privileged to be working with her. Our customers love everything Pixie does and I’m sure they’ll be blown away when they see the new Pixie Collection this September. Pixie is a pleasure to work with and we’re backing her to get to number 1 in the charts with her new album”.
She might be most well-known for her vocal talent and musical styling, but Pixie Lott is also causing waves in the fashion industry.
After three hugely successful collaborations with high-street store Lipsy, Pixie is teaming up with the company once again for a fourth range of clothes.
In this exclusive shot obtained by MailOnline, Pixie is seen donning a sexy purple cut-out dress as she shoots the campaign for the new range.
While details of the new collection have yet to be released, various dresses can be seen hanging in the background – including a black and pink strapless minidress and a black and gold floaty number.
The outfits certainly show Pixie has evolved since her first ranges with Lipsy, when she concentrated on festival chic outfits with playsuits and shorts among the most popular items.
In the last collection, Pixie tried to mesh two different styles of clothing – Pixie Party, featuring more evening-style outfits, and California Dreaming, the festival-led more daytime collection.
Talking about the range, Mama Do singer Pixie said at the time: ‘I’m having such great fun turning my fashion ideas into another exciting range and am overwhelmed with the response so far. (more…)
Since the release of her debut single, 'Mama Do' back in June 2009, Pixie Lott has lead on to become one of the biggest UK female solo artists of the contemporary music landscape. Pixie's debut album, 'Turn It Up' has spanned sales close to one million in the UK alone, producing a successive number of Top 20 singles, including two #1 hits to her name. She has received numerous accolades and has also earned herself a place in the Guinness Book of Records. Pixie is also a well-renowned songwriter, producing hits for artists such as Alexandra Burke and Selena Gomez, to name but a few. Pixie also starred as Judy in Nickelodeon's 'Fred: The Movie' and is rumoured to be lined up for more movie roles in the future. Pixie is also a prolific fashion icon, working closely alongside high street chain Lipsy to create her own collections. With her sophomore album due in November this year and a new fashion range available soon, there's no stopping Pixie and her inimitable talent.
Pixie has recently become a patron of CRY, a charity which offers support and awareness of cardiac risk in the young. Speaking about the charity, Pixie has said, "I've become a patron of CRY as it affects so many young people and it's crazy that a seemingly fit and young person can just drop down dead. I feel it's important to raise awareness and will be using my new role to spread the word." To find out more, or donate to CRY, then visit their website now.
